Anne Zehren is one of country’s foremost sales and marketing executives, having won some of the highest honors in the business. In 1998, Zehren became the launch publisher of Teen People, establishing a record-breaking performance in the magazine industry. Under her leadership, Teen People became the fastest magazine in publishing history to reach profitability, and one of the fastest growing magazines of all time. Additionally, it won the National Magazine Award for Excellence (the magazine equivalent of the Oscars), and rose to number two on Ad Week’s renowned Hot List. She also developed the groundbreaking Teen People TrendspottersTM, an exclusive network of 12,000 ahead-of-the-curve readers.

Prior to Teen People, Zehren was at Conde Nast’s Glamour, where she rose to associate publisher and became the industry’s first Associate Publisher of Marketing, a function that has since become the industry standard. She transformed the magazine’s marketing department from a cost center to a profit center. As Director of Marketing at Newsweek, she helped engineer an innovative repositioning that sparked a turnaround for the magazine. Before that, Zehren was Director of Corporate/Employee Communications at NBC, and while there, was nominated for an Emmy.

As a national authority on youth marketing and innovation, she has been featured numerous times in the national media, was a board member of the National Campaign Against Youth Violence, and was named to President Clinton’s Executive Advisory Board on Youth Violence. Among her honors, she has been inducted into the prestigious Advertising Hall of Achievement, named the D.A.R.E. American Award winner, and named one of Advertising Age’s “Media Mavens” and “The Marketing 100,” the magazine’s list of the country’s top marketers.
